Beautiful Butterfly Sausages
Want to be fancy? Try some butterfly sausages.
I love making these sausages when I feel like eating something better than plain sausages. Thick sausages work best.
Make these at home – you won't be disappointed!
You can add any topping you like, but cheese is a must to make the butterfly shape.
RECIPE
Makes 6 Sausages
Preparation & Cooking Time: Roughly 30 Minutes
6 Thick Beef Sausages
1 Medium Tomato, Finely Diced
1/2 Medium Brown or Spanish Onion, Finely Diced
5 Medium Button Mushroom, Finely Diced
1/4 Capsicum, Finely Diced
Grated cheese, to taste. Any variety is fine — I use shredded mozzarella or pizza cheese blend.
INGREDIENTS
DIRECTIONS
Finely dice the vegetables. Mix in a bowl. Set aside.
Heat some oil in a pan to medium heat. Add the sausages. Turn them over every few minutes. Cook them for 10-15 minutes. Make sure every side gets heated up evenly.
Drain and set aside. Cut them lengthwise partially. Open them flat.
Put aluminium foil on a tray and place the sausages on it. Put a generous heaping of mixture on each sausage. Put cheese on top however you like.
Place under the salamander (grill) or in the oven until the cheese is brown and bubbly. Serve with some vegetables or a side dish you like and enjoy. You can use any leftover mixture on some toast. Serve and enjoy!
