Perfect Pepper Soy Asparagus

My dad’s way for a great tasting asparagus dish.

This is a great appetizer or side dish, or even on its own. I've had asparagus this way since I was little.

This dish is so flavoursome.

Use at least one bunch of asparagus for this dish. It's simple and a great accompaniment to meat or vegetables.

RECIPE

Makes 2 Serves

Preparation & Cooking Time: Roughly 20 Minutes

INGREDIENTS

At Least 1 Bunch of Asparagus

3 Tablespoons Butter (Margarine for Vegan version)

1/2 Teaspoons Soy

3 Pinches Salt

5 Pinches White Pepper

DIRECTIONS

Cut the ends off as they can be tough. With a potato peeler, peel the skins about halfway up. This will make the asparagus nice and soft.

In a large pot, add water and the asparagus. While the water is coming to a boil prepare the butter sauce. In a small tray (anything where the asparagus can fit and can get coated by the margarine or butter), add the margarine or butter. Over low heat, melt your butter. Then, take it off the heat.

Add the soy sauce and pepper. Mix it thoroughly.

Once the water boils, turn it down to medium heat and cook until the asparagus are floppy but not soft and mushy. Place the asparagus in your tray and mix it in the butter to coat the asparagus nicely. Place your asparagus on a plate and pour the margarine or butter over it. Enjoy!
